At times I feel like a little alchemist. I create something new. I use creativity and immersion as a mean to turn raw emotions, experiences and inner landscapes into a something relatable. Into a glimpse of a glimmer to experience the raw emotion yourself.

Love me free

40×50 Oil paint on canvas

As a Thalassophile, I am deeply in love with the ocean and magnetically attracted to it. I also see this in the way the ocean captivates my children My son is walking along the Dutch coastline on my favourite Island Terschelling. Accompanied by stunning clouds and magical light.  Not only the clouds are reflected on the beach, it is also a metaphorical reflection. Whereby I see my younger self walking for hours along the beach, seeking for freedom.

Wispering Wisdom

Giant Friends

They are your silent Friends
Friendly whispering Giants
Giantly rising up High
Higher till wisdom touches the Sky
Shy in their Nature
Naturally standing Strong
Stronger as any super Power
Powerful in Giving
Give giant time to Yourself
You will be uplifted by your Friends.

Upstream

40×50 Oil paint on canvas

If you want to learn and explore what the future might bring, don’t go with the flow. Go upstream. Meanwhile, moving upstream allows me to discover the source of my river. Soul searching. And beyond. Generations before me are part of my source. Wisdom anchored in the stream. Symbolically, upstream for me means for going out of my comfort zone and experiencing the combined power of past, present and emerging.

Showing Shadows

60×80 Oil paint on canvas

Trying to capture that little moment in the creek. Water is passing by. My feet in the cold stream while my thoughts are all over. Until that moment you realise, you’re not alone. The shadows force you to have a closer look. They get you back in the present moment. The only time that really exists is here and now.

In my grandfather’s footsteps

30×40 oil on canvas

In my grandfathers’ footsteps

Walking in your footsteps
Dizzying in timeless threads

Connected through branches of a tree
Everlasting rooted as a family

Without knowing you in-person
I’m time cycling for a reason

Making a spiral in another dimension
finding that deeper connection

Anchored in a helix of generations
Intertwingled with contemporary relations

I’m an accumulation of now and then
while living my own life within

In my grandfather’s footsteps is inspired on an award-winning photo made, developed and printed by my grandfather. Sadly, I never met him in-person. Since my immigration I’m intrigued by my family history, as that is something I left behind in Europe.
